Follow a Friday Meeting with Monday Results

Nathan Koterba · December 21, 2018 ·

Use this strategy to increase your visibility and reputation.  Wait for a work assignment that emerges on a Friday afternoon. It might have a quick deadline; it might not.  Regardless, your goal is to walk in Monday morning with it complete.

Within an hour of arriving on Monday morning, send your boss an email with results from the assignment.  Your boss’s inevitable conclusion—which is true—is that you took initiative and completed it over the weekend.  No one asked you to, you just did it. Completing the assignment and emailing the results by Sunday night is even better.

Completing assignments when the only available time to complete them is during non-work hours demonstrates your commitment to your job, your company, and your career.  That commitment will not go unnoticed!
